We’re going on a new blog schedule – shorter entries twice a week –

By Helen ~ February 21, 2012

Hi y’all,

I hope you had a wonderful President’s Day weekend!

Hey, you know we’re always looking for your feedback on how to do things better. That said, based on comments and suggestions from you, our listeners, we’re going to be changing slightly the way we do the blog for you.

Instead of the longer, once-a-week version we’ve been supplying you, we’re going to go to a twice-a-week format. One will be solely about the current week’s broadcast/podcast, while the other will continue to include the various and sundry ‘Random Thoughts’ I’ve been coming up with, still featuring inside ‘backstage observations,’ insights, opinions and more.

That’s it. Shorter entries, more often. You’ve spoken. We’re delivering.

With that in mind, let me fill you in on this week’s broadcast/podcast:

It’s one of eTown’s popular ‘on the road’ shows, with the hard working eTown crew traveling with Nick and me to Griffin Concert Hall in Fort Collins, Colorado (one of our favorite cities in the world as you probably noticed by now). We’ll be hosting the extremely popular (this man has rabid fans) and insightful singer/songwriter Josh Ritter (a bit of trivia for y’all: Josh was named one of the 100 greatest living songwriters by the music industry’s Paste Magazine a few years ago; pretty impressive, right?). Josh brings both his full band and songs from a recent CD project to share; it’s a fun performance, one I think you’ll enjoy.

Also with us: The Hold Steady (these folks are best known for their substantial rock n’ roll sound, however, for their visit to eTown, they provide a rare acoustic set; good stuff, and really interesting musically, to hear them this pared down). So there’s a bit of a twist this week: The Hold Steady strips down their sound significantly, while Josh brings his big production thing for the first time to eTown. And it all works.

We of course provide you some food-for-thought as well, with up-close and personal conversations between Nick and our musical guests, as well as with this week’s E-Chievement Award story, which showcases a small group of dedicated (and really charming) retired guys working hard to clean up the National Forest area near their homes. It’s one of our typical award sagas, of a grassroots effort that’s making an impressive impact! Please tune in and be with us this week, in eTown.

More from me on Thursday!

Best,

Helen
