Back from California in time for a really great show . . .

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Nellie McKay are our musical guests for this week’s broadcast/podcast, two truly fantastic acts, I must say. Here’s a little bit about them:
The huge sound of California swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is guaranteed to get you moving. These guys have close to two decades of playing and recording together and it shows. They continue to travel the world and play swing, big band style, as only they can, for a rabid fan base. They’ve even appeared in movies (remember Swingers?). This is their second visit to eTown this week; its been a few years and boy oh boy its just great to have them back with us.
Nellie McKay has been a more frequent visitor to eTown, much to our collective delight. Once again, she brings her wonderful, quirky brilliant original stuff and more, and once again she recruits all of us in the eTown house band to play with her (funnnnn!). Nellie has accomplished much in her short life (she just turned 30), recently winning a Theatre World Award for her portrayal of Polly Peachum in the Broadway production of The Threepenny Opera; she’s also appeared in the film PS I Love You, and she wrote original music for the Rob Reiner film Rumor Has It.
Hello to all of our listeners in the great state of California – Nick and I just got back from a weekend there (I was at in a three day seminar that was hard but wonderful and Nick spent the time doing eTown stuff and working on Hot Rize tunes . . . did I tell you they’re starting work on a new album?). We were just outside of Petaluma. Wow, what a place. Stunningly beautiful countryside. I feel blessed to have been there. Saw our dear friend Ed Littlefield, enjoyed 70-degree weather, and generally got a real shot in the arm so to speak, a chance to recharge our batteries, which was much needed. Hope to go again soon!
