Crash Test Dummies
Crash Test Dummies join us fresh from the release of their new album, Puss ‘N’ Boots (Cha-Ching/Universal 2003). The band first appeared on the Canadian musical scene in the late 1980′s, but did not receive mainstream international recognition until the 1993 release of their second album, God Shuffled His Feet. With the single “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” in high rotation, the album passed the platinum sales mark in the U.S., and also earned the Dummies three Grammy nominations and three more Juno nominations. Now with their sixth release, the group explores beyond their usual literate, eclectic brand of pop, delving into neo-soul grooves but not without the unmistakable presence of lead singer Brad Roberts’ distinctive voice. As the Winnipeg Sun describes the new material: “…with their chicken-scratch wah-wah guitars, sexy backup vocals, slinky slow-burning grooves and swirly production flourishes, these cuts are more earthy and soulful than anything the Dummies ever did.”
