Civil Wars

Artist's Website

The Civil Wars is an indie folk duo composed of singer-songwriters Joy Williams and John Paul White. They met during a Nashville, Tennesee songwriting session, and it wasn’t long before they formed the band and then gained national exposure when their song “Poison and Wine” was played on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy in late 2009. The band got a boost when Taylor Swift tweeted, calling their song, Poison and Wine “her favorite duet”. They’ve gone on to play on the Tonight Show and to be featured on All Things Considered and A Prairie Home Companion, but this will be their first visit to eTown. The Civil Wars catalog includes a download-only album called Live at Eddie’s Attic, an EP called Poison & Wine and a studio album titled Barton Hollow.
