Alexandra is an elementary school teacher who realized that a lot of her kids were malnourished; some were even fasting for up to 18 hours between school lunches. The lack of healthy food and its impacts on her students and their families broke her heart. So, she and her husband decided to start a small classroom “pantry” with $100 from their limited funds. The program started slow, but has grown in leaps and bounds over the last few years. Today her project serves two schools, feeding the 250 kids and their families and in 2011 they provided the equivalent of 250,000 meals!
