Angela has always found the ocean to be a healing force in her life. However, after moving to the Oregon coast to live she quickly found that trash, especially plastics, were a growing issue for beaches and oceans around the world. So, she started an organization that (among other things) has started the Washed Ashore Project which creates massive sculptures out of discarded plastics and combines these thought provoking creations with education to raise awareness about the dangers plastic poses to the world’s oceans. To date the organization has reached nearly half a million people and recycled almost 3 tons of plastic into habit changing art.
