Josh Nesbit was planning to be a doctor and focusing on Global Health at Stanford University when he decided to experience first-hand the needs of impoverished, remote hospitals in developing countries. He traveled to Malawi and found the conditions truly abysmal: a single hospital, with one doctor to care for 250,000 residents across a huge region. It was common for patients would have to walk 60 to 100 miles to get treatment. He came up with a brilliant solution to increase quality of care, save money and save lives all with a smart app he created for mobile phones. So far, 600,000 people have gotten aid through the help of Medic Mobile and are active in 16 countries.
