Vision & Goals

The former sanctuary will be converted into a performance space called eTown Hall, able to accommodate a seated audience of roughly 200 people. This will be used for eTown tapings, independent musical performances, community meetings, lectures, weddings, movies, rehearsals and educational events. With all of the creative energy in Boulder, this will become the only “listening room” in downtown. eTown Hall will enliven and enrich the cultural landscape of our hometown while enabling eTown to deliver more shows in more formats to more people for generations to come.

The former gymnasium will be converted into an amazing recording environment; a studio where bands can record CDs and eTown can make media in any format – including television. This unique space will be unlike any other recording studio in the area, with 20’ high ceilings and a beautifully designed control room. With eTown Hall studios, the sky is the limit in terms of what we can produce in house and how many people we can reach.
The former cafeteria will become the “Bohemian Room”. It will house the box office and kitchen and will be available as a small-scale performance space and gathering place for all kinds of community groups. The Bohemian Room will also be a place for workshops and master classes, making eTown Hall a real educational center as well.

The former offices have already been completely transformed into eTown’s offices, three editing rooms, two dressing rooms and a “Green Room” for artist hospitality. It’s a space that is filled with natural light and great energy!

We plan to make the building as energy efficient as possible, hopefully generating up to 70% of our energy on site through a large array of solar panels. The building itself and all fixtures and appliances are so efficient, that eTown Hall should be a national model of sustainable redevelopment in an urban area, perhaps the most energy efficient performance space and media center in the country.

Once completed, we expect that the world’s best musicians, authors, policy makers and thought leaders will make regular stops at this remarkable facility. Schools will regularly bring kids to see how the building makes almost as much energy as it uses, proving that we already have the technology to stem the tide of global warming. High school and college students will come to learn how to make their own radio, television and social media content from scratch. From chamber music to folk music, musicians from all over the world will sing the praises of this acoustically designed performance space that regularly delivers a full house and a respectful audience. Musicians from around the world will record their music at eTown Hall, and local artists can launch their careers here with low cost audio and video recordings. If all goes well, eTown Hall will become the meeting place and center for a conscious, caring, cultured and creative community for generations to come.

Become a part of eTown Hall! Right now, your contribution will be doubled! eTown was recently awarded a $500,000 challenge grant from the Bohemian Foundation for the completion of eTown Hall. That means every dollar you donate for the Hall is doubled and can accomplish twice the work. Thank you for your support!
