haiku celebration

Hosted by etown and Sponsored by ITO EN

For complete official rules, see below. Here's a quick overview:

WHAT IS A HAIKU: A haiku is a poem composed of three (3) unrhymed lines of five (5), seven (7) and five (5) syllables, respectively.

HOW DOES THIS HAIKU CELEBRATION WORK EXACTLY: For this Haiku Celebration there will be specific haiku topics for each month. Send in one haiku per person per day that relates to that month's topic and etown and Ito En will pick the winners. Obviously, for consideration the haiku must be your original work and not have already been published somewhere else. Also, it needs to be in English and not be offensive.

WHEN ARE WINNING HAIKUS SELECTED: Two (2) winners will be determined on a monthly basis from entries received during that month from January through May, and one (1) winner will be determined on a monthly basis from entries received during that month from June through August for a total of 13 winning submissions. You will be notified if your haiku is selected.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WIN: If your haiku is one of the thirteen (13) selected, it will be printed on Ito En's Tea's Tea bottles with your name, city, and state.

WILL I WIN A PRIZE: There are no prizes being awarded as a result of an entrant's Submission being used on an Ito En product.

ELIGIBILITY: The Haiku Celebration Hosted by etown and Sponsored by ITO EN is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 years of age or older as of the time of entry.

HOW TO ENTER: The Contest begins on January 11, 2008 and ends on August 31, 2008. To participate, submit a haiku below.
