She-'s joined by her pianist/keyboardist Keith Cotton, who joins forces with Etown hosts Nick & Helen Forster and the Etones to lend solid musical and vocal support to her set. There-'s also an engaging -'in-person-' E-Chievement Award this week you won-'t want to miss, right here, in Etown!
Bruce Cockburn
Bruce Cockburn has been a tremendously influential musician for the entirety of his 35-year career, consistently writing songs of weighty social and political significance. New York Times describes him thusly, "...Mr. Cockburn materializes chords and modal filigrees while his thumb provides the music's pulse and its foundation. It is at once a deep Celtic drone, a drumbeat and the throb of a vigilant conscience."
Bruce Cockburn has earned piles of accolades and awards including the Tenco Award for Lifetime Achievement in Italy and 20 gold and platinum awards in his native Canada, where he is an Officer of the Order of Canada and an inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Cockburn was recently awarded the 2006 Juno Humanitarian Award by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for the positive social, environmental and humanitarian contributions he has made.
Joan Osborne
In a career that spans over fifteen years, Joan Osborne has proven to be an artistically restless yet consistently enthralling performer. In 2002, she cemented her reputation as a top tier soul singer with an incredible turn in the acclaimed documentary film 'Standing in the Shadows of Motown,' followed by a tour with legendary Motown backing band The Funk Brothers. In 2003, Osborne toured with the Dixie Chicks and then surprised and wowed audiences touring throughout America for two years as the lead singer for The Dead. In 2007, she graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Osborne loves to sing and perform in many different genres, but she comes back to her soulful rock roots on 'Little Wild One,' her new release that reunites her Grammy All-Star team of Rick Chertoff and Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian of The Hooters. The team last worked together on Osborne's breakthrough, debut album 'Relish,' which sold five million copies worldwide and yielded the smash hit "One Of Us" as well as scoring six Grammy nominations.
