E-Chievement Award: Barry Saltman

In this week’s broadcast, eTown welcomes back the huge sound of California swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. With nearly two decades or playing and recording under their belts, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is a band that is continuing to gain momentum with its one-of-a-kind vintage sound. They’ve traveled the world, appeared in movies such as Swingers, and are making their second stop in eTown this week to remind listeners that it’s still cool to swing, big band style. Nellie McKay also returns to eTown this week. eTown hosts Nick and Helen Forster, and the eTown house band – the eTones, join Nellie onstage for some one-of-a-kind musical theatrics you won’t want to miss. Odds are, you have heard her unique sound somewhere. Nellie has won a Theatre World Award for her portrayal of Polly Peachum in the Broadway production of The Threepenny Opera and performed onscreen in the film PS I Love You, as well as writing original music for the Rob Reiner film Rumor Has It. It’s a full episode of great music and conversation, and a great E-Chievement Award story this week. Be sure to tune in!
