eTown packs its bags and heads to Port Angeles, Washington, where we take part in ‘Celebrate Elwha’, a multi-day event commemorating the nation’s largest dam removal project. (In the early 1900’s these two privately installed dams were built, choking the Elwha River, decimating its native salmon population and negatively impacting the environment as well as the local economy; it’s been a several decade community effort to get them removed.) In this two-part show Nick & Helen welcome the environmentally savvy, progressive band CAKE, as well as brilliant banjoist and writer Danny Barnes and gifted songstress Eliza Gilkyson. While we’re ‘on the road’ in Washington we’ll interview a couple of special guests and of course there’ll be some E-Chievement Award action, too. Tune in this week to catch part one of eTown’s visit to the Northwest and be sure to join us next week for part two of our ‘Celebrate Elwha’ show.
