eTown announces the latest pairing of musical guests to bookend another great evening of music and conversation. On Feb. 12, hosts Nick and Helen Forster will welcome Elephant Revival, a group of rising stars from eTown’s backyard of Lyons, Colorado, alongside legendary Texas singer/songwriter Jimmy LaFave, for a live taping of the internationally syndicated radio variety program. Each episode of eTown is recorded in front of a live audience, and blends music with in-depth conversation with the artists to create a truly unique entertainment experience.

As the next in a growing lineage of artists to put the small town of Lyons on the musical map, Elephant Revival is quickly gaining recognition on a national scale for their creative and fresh approach to acoustic music they call ‘Transcendental Folk.’ Each member of this eclectic quintet brings a unique talent and sound to the greater whole, with compositions created with traditional instruments such as banjo, mandolin and viola, to those including their electric counterparts and percussive ingredients such as the djembe and musical saw. Elephant Revivals genre-jumping style has earned them the recognition of musical peers such as Bela Fleck, John Paul Jones, Little Feat, Leftover Salmon and countless others, while building fans across the country through sold-out performances and national radio play.

Also appearing will be Austin-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Jimmy LaFave. Despite his recognition as a two-time winner of the Austin Music Award category for Best Singer/Songwriter, Jimmy LaFave’s music is rooted equally in the “red dirt” traditions of his boyhood home in Oklahoma, where he first began his musical exploration as a drummer before his mother traded a drawer full of green stamps for his first guitar. LaFave went on to develop a grassroots following and critical acclaim for his music over the next 30 years, with international tours, appearances on Austin City Limits, as well as a 1997 invitation from Nora Guthrie to speak and perform as part of Woody Guthrie’s induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. For his stop in eTown, Jimmy will share career-spanning music, along with selections from his upcoming release, due later this year.

In addition to lots of great music and conversation, the event will also feature a special E-Chievement Award story highlighting an eTown listener who has gone above and beyond to make a positive difference in their community.
