Hosts Nick and Helen Forster take eTown on the road once again to Fort Collins’ newly renovated Lincoln Center for a very special live radio show taping featuring Seattle Americana sensations, The Head and the Heart. The band will make its first visit to eTown to share lots of great music and insight into the origins and influences behind their collaborative songwriting process.

Leaving a variety of day jobs and academic pursuits, The Head and The Heart came together in the summer of 2009, during frequent visits to a local open mic night in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. The group released its first self-produced that same summer, selling self-burned copies in handmade denim sleeves at shows and local record stores. What has followed has been nothing short of a whirlwind. Already, the group has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, opening for acts such as Dave Matthews, Vampire Weekend, The Walkmen and Death Cab for Cutie. The band’s one-of-kind vocal harmonies and unique instrumentation have earned their reputation as an emerging voice in the recording arena, as well a phenomenal live band. As a band that shares the same independent, do-it-yourself spirit as eTown, welcoming The Head and The Heart into the fold of artists that have performed on the program over the years is a natural fit.

Joining The Head and The Heart at the taping will be Colorado-based, South African-born singer/songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov, who will be making his third stop in eTown. Isakov’s voice and guitar style leave a humble presence that has spawned a burgeoning fan base. He has shared the stage with numerous touring artists such as Ani Difranco, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Alexi Murdoch, Brandi Carlile and Fiona Apple. Isakov’s unique voice and approach to songwriting have earned him well-deserved accolades from many of his musical peers, as well as rave reviews from influential music writers around the world.

More than just a typical concert, each eTown taping is a unique live entertainment event that combines musical performance, information and inspiring conversation. In addition to lots of great music, the event will also feature a special E-Chievement Award story, a trademark staple of each and every eTown taping, highlighting one of the show’s listeners who has gone above and beyond to make a positive difference in their community.
