eTown is proud to welcome Lucy Rose to our intimate eTown Hall for the first time. Born on June 28, 1989, Rose is an English singer and songwriter from Warwickshire. Her musical origins started when she played drums for her school orchestra while Rose’s songwriting began when she wrote tunes on their home piano. Rose is the youngest of three sisters and claims that she was not even the most musical one in the family. Her first try at songwriting was when she wrote an ode to her sick dog when she was 14 years old. She got disappointed when her pianist older sister showed dissatisfaction with the song by stating that it needed a key change. This resulted in her purchasing a guitar from the store she would pass by from school. She taught herself how to play the instrument and says that it made her feel different and free from her musically inclined family.
Joining Lucy Rose at this taping will be guitar legend and songwriting powerhouse Big Al Anderson. He wasn’t the first. He wasn’t the last. However, Al Anderson did spend an amazing 22 years there – playing guitar in the college of muscial knowledge known as The New Rhythm and Blues Quartet or more simply, NRBQ.
Each eTown taping is more than just a live musical performance. It features music, conversations with the visiting artists, as well as an inspiring E-Chievement Award segment that highlights an individual who is going above and beyond to make a difference in his or her community.
