eTown hosts Nick and Helen Forster welcome long-time friends of the show and Americana music veterans Marley’s Ghost, and musician Elle King, for a very special broadcast from eTown Hall. Marley’s Ghost made their first appearance in eTown 20 years ago during eTown’s second season, and we are lucky to have them back with us once again. With decades of making music together, nine albums and thousands of shows around the world under their belts, Marley’s Ghost is a deeply seasoned band of kindred spirits and one of the best-kept secrets of the acoustic music world. To celebrate their 25th anniversary as a band, Marley’s Ghost teamed up once again with legendary Nashville producer, Cowboy Jack Clement, to record their latest album, Jubilee, which features guest performances from Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Old Crow Medicine Show, Marty Stuart, Larry Campbell, and more. Up-and-coming musician Elle King also joins us, and will leave you with a voice and a sound you won’t soon forget. Her peers have described her sound as “Billie Holiday having a shot of whiskey with Johnny Cash.” Born in Ohio and raised in Brooklyn, Elle retains her roots in a style that blends those worlds of both grit and mid-western charm. Once again, it’s a great hour of music, conversation and an inspiring E-Chievement Award story for you this week in eTown.
