Their music has been described using almost every term available. Indie rock, folk, Americana and even neo-soul encapsulate Pickwick’s sound. They are do-it-yourselfers after eTown’s own heart, and on May 8 we’re welcoming them for their very first visit to eTown Hall for a live radio show taping of our syndicated broadcast/podcast.
With a successful year of festival invites and an ever larger string of hometown sell-outs behind them in 2012 the band refocused on recording and have a year later emerged with Can’t Talk Medicine. Upgrading from the basement used for Myths and setting up shop in their living room for this latest release of home-made recordings that they’ll dive into during the taping.
Joining Pickwick at the taping is Americana legend, and long-time friend of eTown, Tommy Malone. For over two decades Tommy has enjoyed a successful career as the guitarist, singer for the legendary Subdudes. A new chapter in Tommy’s career will added when M.C. Records releases the all-original Natural Born Days on June 18. Tommy Malone will once again be pulling at the heart-strings of his fans.
Like an open book, Tommy Malone’s life story reads as a journeyman, poet and storyteller, sharing his life stories through music. Together masterful musicianship and soulful delivery as a songwriter, singer, and guitarist has often ranked Tommy high upon other musicians list. Tommy has had a musical love affair with fans for over 30 years. Tommy has been with us during eTown’s very early days as the ‘heart and center’ front-man of Americana act The Subdudes. We’re looking forward to having him back with us to share some of his solo material this time!
