Hosts Nick and Helen Forster welcome two world-class acts with Boulder roots, The Wood Brothers and Gretchen Peters, to the newly renovated eTown Hall for a very special live radio show taping.

Native sons, The Wood Brothers, will make another stop in eTown, to christen the new stage in eTown Hall with their soulful fusion of folk, blues, jazz and classic R&B music. Although Chris and Oliver have an undeniable musical chemistry, it took them many years to recognize and acknowledge it. Both left their Boulder home after high school, with Oliver ultimately landing in Atlanta to form the band King Johnson, and Chris finding his musical path in New York City and eventually forming instrumental jazz trio Medeski Martin & Wood. Now with more than eight years and three full-length albums under their belts as The Wood Brothers proper, Chris and Oliver will make their second appearance on the show to share a one-of-a-kind sound that only siblings can create.

Joining The Wood Brothers this evening will be singer/songwriter Gretchen Peters. Since her emergence from the Colorado folk scene, Gretchen Peters has risen to the top of her craft by writing and recording songs that explore the deep corners of life with empathy and integrity. Martina McBride (who had an award-winning hit with Peters’ “Independence Day”), Pam Tillis, Neil Diamond, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Bryan Adams, Bonnie Raitt, Etta James and many others have recorded her songs. But Peters says, “I never had any aspirations of being a writer for other artists. I want to be understood for who I am.” Now based in Nashville, Peters makes her first stop in eTown on the heels of her newest recording, Hello Cruel World, of which she calls her “most close-to-the-bone work.”

More than just a typical concert, each eTown taping is a unique live entertainment event that combines musical performance, information and inspiring conversation. In addition to lots of great music, the event will also feature a special E-Chievement Award story, a trademark staple of each and every eTown taping, highlighting one of the show’s listeners who have gone above and beyond to make a positive difference in their community.
