We recently had our soft opening at eTown Hall! Thanks to Bob Dylan, we put together a last minute event – Bob’s 80th Birthday Bash – conceived last Thursday, promoted on Friday, sold-out on Saturday, event on Monday. And it was so SWEET to be back in eTown Hall after 14 months without an audience. The event was a “pay or play” show where the audience either bought a ticket or sang a Dylan song. Twenty really talented members of the local community got up and sang their hearts out for Bob’s birthday, and both the audience (we only sold to 50% attendance, about 100 people) and performers were delighted.
“Many thanks to eTown Hall for having me out to celebrate Bob Dylan’s 80th Birthday on Monday! Thankful for this special night playing some of the greatest music ever written alongside some incredible musicians, and for the crew at eTown Hall for giving me the opportunity to open up that night and strum the first chords on their legendary stage since the pandemic started in March of 2020, with the most appropriate version of “Shelter from the Storm” I’ve ever played.”

Although eTown Hall is not fully reopened yet, we proved that we could put our crew together and put on an event safely and respectfully that serves our community and continues eTown’s commitment to “music, ideas and community” that’s been going on for more than 30 years. Of course, we did produce a lot of content here during the pandemic, and we were especially proud of our 30th b’Earthday Celebration live-stream (in case you missed it, you can still view it here). We continue to refine our live-streaming skills as that becomes another valuable service we can provide to our local community.
Stay tuned for more to come soon, including the relaunching of Hippy Bluegrass Church OUTDOORS at the Boulder Bandshell starting July 25. Click here for tickets and more information.
