Join us this week as we revisit a very special show: freshly transplanted from New York City to Nashville comes Grammy-winning folk artist Sarah Jarosz. And from the opposite coastlines of California and Florida come identical twin singer-songwriters The Brother Brothers. Nick also has an in-depth conversation with Stuart Cummings about the benefits of converting homes to energy-saving appliances.
Sarah Jarosz, a four-time Grammy Award–winner and frequent Americana and Folk Awards nominee, has become one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary roots music. Born in Texas, she is celebrated for her poetic lyricism, luminous voice and instrumental mastery. Alongside her acclaimed solo career, she won a Grammy with the trio I’m With Her. Her seventh album, Polaroid Lovers (2024), produced by Daniel Tashian at Nashville’s Sound Emporium, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album. Recorded live with a stellar cast of musicians, the record meditates on fleeting yet unforgettable moments, each song a snapshot of love and time’s expansiveness, showing Sarah’s fearless pursuit of creative risks.
Identical twins Adam and David Moss, known as The Brother Brothers, are revered for their breathtaking harmonies often likened to the Everly Brothers. Raised in Peoria, Illinois, they grew up harmonizing to The Beatles and The Beach Boys before studying music formally at the University of Illinois. Their Compass Records release Cover to Cover reimagines songs by Jackson Browne, Tom T. Hall, James Taylor and others with elegance and intimacy, reflecting their lifelong love of songcraft. Longtime collaborators with artists such as Sarah and Lake Street Dive, Adam and David have toured widely and continue to earn acclaim for their thoughtful, deeply personal artistry.
Stuart Cummings, a Boulder resident originally from Boston, is a former aerospace engineer and retired Boeing 777 captain who has dedicated his retirement to sustainability and electrification. His journey began in 2014 with a leased Nissan Leaf and expanded into full-scale home upgrades by 2017 including solar PV and heat pumps as part of his mission to live carbon-neutral. A devoted conservationist, he maintains a certified native plant garden and remains active with the Colorado Native Plant Society. For over 20 years, Stuart has also been a Scout leader, guiding expeditions in Alaska and the Boundary Waters while sharing his lifelong passion for water and the outdoors.
