Celebrating 34 years of music, ideas, & community on the radio
The Lone Bellow, Sunny War and interview guest Isabel Sanchez

What a great new show we have for you this week! From Nashville come the incredible songs and harmonies of The Lone Bellow. From Chattanooga, Tennessee comes the authentic and insightful song talent of Sunny War. And Nick sits down with community organizer and urban farmer, Isabel Sanchez from Boulder, Colorado.

Since their 2013 debut, The Lone Bellow have captivated audiences with their soaring harmonies, heartfelt songwriting and electrifying live performances. The Nashville-based trio of Zach Williams, Kanene Pipkin, and Brian Elmquist continue to evolve while staying true to their emotional core. Their self-produced fifth album, Love Songs for Losers, recorded in Roy Orbison’s former home, showcases that signature blend of passion and craft, while their latest single “That Table” signals a bold new era of connection and creativity. They have new music coming in 2026.

Singer-songwriter Sunny War brings her spellbinding guitarwork and vivid storytelling to the stage. Her latest album, Armageddon in a Summer Dress, melds punk spirit with blues and folk roots — songs that haunt, question, and ultimately uplift. A fearless writer and performer, Sunny bridges musical worlds with disarming honesty and raw emotion. Her performances shimmer with the energy of someone constantly searching, learning, and reinventing what a modern protest song can be.

Joining Nick Forster in conversation, Isabel Sanchez is a permaculture designer, educator and climate justice advocate. From urban farming to emergency preparedness, her work empowers communities to grow resilience and self-reliance from the ground up. Presently, she is the co-founder and curriculum builder of the CPT project, Community Led Preparedness Training for Climate Emergencies. Isabel has also been an emergency response connector for City of Boulder’s Communication and Engagement department, showcasing a remarkable woman doing good in the community.
