Denise Bitz – Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

As a traveling nurse for over a decade, Denise Bitz lived in many various towns all over the United States. An avid animal lover, she would also volunteer at local animals shelters in her spare time. When Denise took a nursing assignment in Asheville, North Carolina, she began volunteering at an animal shelter there. Unlike the previous shelters she volunteered for, this one was euthanizing thousands of healthy animals every year simply because they didn’t have enough space. Denise decided there had to be a better way, so she founded Brother Wolf Animal Rescue to take in animals who would otherwise be put down, care for them and find them loving homes. With the help of around 3,000 volunteers, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue has saved the lives of close to 14,000 pets since 2007.
