Headliner: John Novosad
John Novosad, a.k.a. Hippieman, is a stand-up comedian based out of the Comedy Works in Denver, Colorado. He’s performed in clubs, theatres and bars across the country for over thirty years. John grew up in Boulder, Colorado. Making his network television debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, John followed that up with a second performance on the Ferguson show. He’s also appeared on Bryon Allen’s nationally syndicated Comedy.TV. John has toured extensively over the years and continues to do so. He’s a featured performer at the prestigious Comedy Works, sharing the stage with the some of the biggest national acts working today. Winning the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in 2016 and the Laughlin Laugh Festival in 2015 are additional career highlights. John has performed at the Comedy Exposition in Chicago, the High Plains Comedy Festival in Denver and the Aspen Laff Fest.
Feature: Rachel Weeks
Rachel Weeks is a Denver-based comedian and writer from the western suburbs of Chicago. She is a regular performer at Denver’s famous Comedy Works and has appeared on NBC's First Look, Seeso's Hidden America with Jonah Ray, and the RISK! podcast. She produces the Denver chapter of Chicago storytelling favorite We Still Like You and has been featured on High Plains, Orlando Indie, Crom, and Beast Village comedy festivals. While Rachel has only been a member of the Denver comedy scene a short time—her comedy roots were planted in Des Moines—she has already built a reputation as a strong, young performer to watch.
James Draper is a stand up comedian and improviser based in Denver, CO who got his start in the wind swept and culturally moribund plains of Oklahoma. He can be seen performing all over Denver, including the Denver Improv, Comedy Works, the High Plains Comedy Festival, and his own monthly show at Comedy RoomRoom. He likes short jokes and short bios.
After spending years in corporate America and obtaining his Masters Degree, John realized all of that was just plain stupid and decided to pursue comedy. Great decision. More fun without the loans. You can see John performing in towns all across Colorado. He runs a successful showcase in Lakewood at Westfax Brewery the last Saturday of every month. In addition, he has a rap music themed podcast “As The Rhyme Goes On” available on iTunes. John likes all of you.
Host: Cody Spyker
Cody Spyker is a born and raised western slope Coloradoan, Naropa University Peace Studies alumni, and a nanny-by-day. She co-hosts a weekly podcast—formerly a live am radio show through Radio 1190—called Ice Cream Social. Over three years running, the show features both local Colorado talent as well as nationally touring comedians such as Emily Heller, Myq Kaplan, Scott Dikkers (of the Onion) and David Gborie. She’s performed on the Crom Comedy Festival and for the past two years the High Plains Comedy Festival in Denver, fulfilling a dream of opening for Todd Glass and Eddie Pepitone in 2017. She is the host of eTown Comedy Live! and she loves and likes you very much.
