Join us for a celebration of the songs and artistry of Joni Mitchell as we bring her songs to life! Often referred to as the greatest contemporary songwriter, Joni has been a huge influence in our lives and music over the years. Joni’s career has spanned over half a century, and in that time, she explored and experimented in many genres of music and made them her own. We have selected some of our favorite Joni songs and aspire to honor the original and explore our individual artistry through her songs. Additionally, we will play some of our own tunes that were directly inspired by Joni Mitchell.

Liz Barnez, Rebecca Folsom, and Celeste Krenz will be singing and providing harmony vocals, guitar, and piano. Accompanying will be a group of Colorado’s finest musicians: Eric Moon on keys, Steve Ivey on drums, Eric Thorin on bass, and Eric Straumanis on guitar.

FEATURING:

Liz Barnez:

Liz Barnez has been a touring performing songwriter for over 35 years. Born and raised in New Orleans, Liz’s music is informed by the rhythms and musical traditions of her place of birth. She moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where she continues to write, record, and perform.

“You’ll want to listen to the lyrics, but you’ll want to dance while doing so”…a fan!

Liz was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in November 2019 as a member of the “Mother Folkers.” She was named “Best Female Singer/Songwriter”; by her peers and FoCoMA (Fort Collins Musicians Association), she was also presented with the Lifetime Music Award in 2016 by FoCoMA.

Liz is currently in the studio recording and is releasing a single a month in 2024 culminating in the release of the full album toward the end of the year!

Rebecca Folsom:

Colorado singer-songwriter and international touring artist, Rebecca Folsom is on a mission to change the world one listener at a time! Rebecca has released eleven albums and written and published two books of poetry. Her latest album, Sanctuary, is a collaboration with activists, social justice organizations, and those impacted in compromised disempowered situations.

The title song, Sanctuary, was a finalist in the 2021 International Songwriting Competition and went to #1 on the National Roots Folk Radio Chart. In addition, Rebecca facilitates vibrant coaching workshops.

“Rebecca Folsom’s newest album Sanctuary is worthy of awe.” Americana Highways

“Her songs hit like little earthquakes.’ Westword Magazine

Celeste Krenz:

Former Denverite Celeste Krenz is a singer/songwriter of rare talent, with a pure, sweet voice. Her music is infused with healthy doses of pop tunefulness and folky austerity–a classic example of Nashville songwriting a la Nanci Griffith, Iris DeMent, and Emmylou Harris.

“An infectious blend of sweet vocals, story-based lyrics, and acoustic sensibilities” Billboard Magazine

“Meticulously drawn songwriting, equal parts, torch and poetry, brain and soul.” David Kirby, Denver Post
