Celebrating 34 years of music, ideas, & community on the radio
Fruition, Madeline Hawthorne and interview guest Jake Plummer

Fruition is a five-piece Americana band rooted in collaboration, harmony and the spirit of honest expression. Formed in 2008 as a Portland street-corner trio, the group has since grown into a nationally beloved act known for rich vocal layering, raw performances and a genre-blending style that pulls from folk, soul, rock and pop. Their latest release, How To Make Mistakes (2024), was their first studio album in four years and their most personal to date. Recorded entirely live right here at eTown Hall with no overdubs, the album captures Fruition at their most unified and unfiltered.

Born in New England and based in Bozeman, Montana, Madeline Hawthorne is a dynamic singer-songwriter whose music captures the freedom of the open road and the grit of real-life experience. Blending  Americana, folk roots and rock, she delivers songs filled with honesty and wanderlust. Her 2024 album Tales From Late Nights & Long Drives received wide acclaim. She’s shared stages with Jason Isbell, Lukas Nelson and Nathaniel Rateliff, and performed at festivals like Americanafest, WinterWonderGrass and Treefort.

A native of Boise, Idaho, Jake Plummer was raised in a family filled with good humans that loved to be outdoors in nature. His mother, Marilyn, taught him the importance of a healthy mind, body and spirit through eating good food, like blue corn and tofu waffles, and using alternative medicines for common ailments, like taking garlic and honey shots for a cold. These early lessons paid off as Jake continued down the holistic path during his days playing football for the Arizona State University Sun Devils, Arizona Cardinals and the Denver Broncos. Known for his time as a gun slinging quarterback on the field, Jake has since become an advocate for natural medicine in his post NFL career journey. Co-founder of UMBO Functional Mushrooms and also MycoLove Farm, Jake believes the Queendom of Fungi can help guide others on their own personal health and wellness journeys. Living in Boulder for the past 12 years and helping raise three wonderful kids, Jake is honored to be part of a community of so many health conscious humans striving to make the world a better place.
