Celebrating 35 years of music, ideas, & community on the radio
The War and Treaty, Dom Flemons and interview guest Mack Bailey

This week in eTown, we travel back in time for a show featuring The War and Treaty, the husband-and-wife duo of Michael and Tanya Trotter, along with Grammy Award winner and “American Songster” Dom Flemons. eTown host Nick Forster also talks with Mack Bailey, founder of Music Therapy Retreats, about the role music can play in healing trauma.

The War and Treaty have built their sound around Michael and Tanya Trotter’s remarkable voices and chemistry, pairing soul, country, gospel and roots music. Grammy Award, Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music nominees, the duo has built a career around love and resilience and a belief in music’s ability to create unity.

Grammy Award winner Dom Flemons has spent his career exploring the many threads of American roots music. A founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and master of instruments ranging from banjo and guitar to harmonica, Dom joins us with songs from his 2023 album, Traveling Wildfire, and stories about the history and evolution of American music.

Mack Bailey, founder and executive director of Music Therapy Retreats, joins Nick to talk about using music to help people living with trauma and depression. His organization works with veterans and other survivors, using mindfulness and songwriting as tools for healing.
