Join us as eTown goes back in time and on the road to Bentonville, Arkansas. Our musical guests include the hilariously funny yet seriously talented duo The Milk Carton Kids along with the tradition-stretching sonic talents of Buffalo Nichols. Nick also discusses the community-building magic of barbeque with local Bentonville hero, Nate Walls. That’s all this week on eTown!
Our Time Capsule episode this week welcomes the The Milk Carton Kids back to the eTown stage. Since forming in 2011, Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale have become one of the defining duos in contemporary folk, known for their ethereal harmonies, intricate guitar work and thoughtful songwriting. On this episode, they remind us why their partnership has become such a beloved force in modern folk music.
Also joining us is Buffalo Nichols, the musical project of songwriter Carl Nichols. Drawing from traditional blues while incorporating modern textures such as drum machines, Buffalo’s music expands the genre’s possibilities.
eTown host Nick Forster also sits down with Nate Walls, founder of the nonprofit organization Second Helping NWA. Based in Northwest Arkansas, the organization works to address food insecurity by connecting local businesses, volunteers and community members to provide meals for those in need.
