Celebrating 34 years of music, ideas, & community on the radio
Haley Heynderickx, Matt The Electrician and interview guest Patricia Limerick

What a wonderful show we have for you this week! From the Pacific Northwest comes Haley Heynderickx, a genuinely unique and authentic singer-songwriter who promotes slow art as an alternative to our fast-paced modern life. And from Austin, Texas comes Matt The Electrician, yet another authentic singer-songwriter who shares not only his music but also his love of baseball. Also, Nick has an entertaining chat with historian and author, Professor Patricia Limerick about a handful of interesting topics.

Haley Heynderickx draws from her Filipino American upbringing, 60s and 70s folk, jazz radio, and the guitar work of Leo Kottke and John Fahey. Her music blends intricate fingerpicking with reflective, gently humorous lyrics. After I Need to Start a Garden and 2024’s Seed of a Seed, she returns November 21 with What of Our Nature, a collaborative album with Max García Conover.

Matt the Electrician is Austin songwriter Matthew Sever, known for his quirky, sincere folk pop and a catalog of 11 studio albums. His 2024 release The Ocean Knocked Me Down, his most recent, brings upbeat, hopeful, slightly off-kilter songs, bringing intelligence and levity to this moment.

Leading historian of the American West and Director of the Applied History Initiative, Patty Limerick, sits down with eTown host Nick Forster for a fun interview. As a longtime CU Boulder professor and MacArthur Fellow, she’s known for bringing historical insight to public life through teaching, writing and civic engagement.
