This week on eTown, we’re hitting the road and reaching into the archives for a 2023 show recorded just 30 miles from Boulder at The Mission Ballroom in Denver. The sold-out night features two Austin, Texas-based acts: Charley Crockett and Greyhounds.

Charley Crockett has lived a life that makes for a great country song. Years spent traveling and busking have shaped his country, Blues, soul and American roots sound. Charley performs songs from his growing catalog and talks with eTown host Nick Forster about his winding path from the streets of New Orleans, New York and Paris back home to Texas. This Mission Ballroom concert was the most tickets he’d ever sold for a single show and another step in a remarkable climb that has since taken him to sold-out nights at Red Rocks and two Grammy nominations. 

Greyhounds grew out of a musical partnership between Anthony Farrell and Andrew Trube that stretches back more than two decades, including years spent playing with JJ Grey & Mofro. Joined by drummer Ed Miles, the Austin trio plays a soulful mix of Blues, rock and R&B.  

Recorded live at The Mission Ballroom, this eTown on the Road episode captures Charley at a pivotal point in his career and gives us a chance to revisit a night when one of today’s biggest names in roots music was still finding out just how far his songs could take him.
