Arlan Preblud – We Don’t Waste

After more than 40 years, Arlan Preblud retired from a successful career as a lawyer. At that time, he decided he wanted to do something to give back to his community. He started by volunteering with his wife, serving meals at a local non-profit in Denver that helps the homeless. While there, he noticed that there was often a real lack of fresh food being prepared, even on special holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Being a bit of a foodie himself, Arlan decided that there had to be a way to provide more nutritious food for those in need so he founded We Don’t Waste in 2009 as a way to increase food security and, as the executive director, he has been committed to expanding its reach to serve vulnerable populations. We Don’t Waste currently serves more than 50 of Denver’s community-based, non-profit agencies. The food sourced by We Don’t Waste augments the food programs of the non-profits it serves, allowing these organizations to reduce their food budgets while still serving wholesome, nutritional meals. Since inception in 2009, We Don’t Waste has distributed over 3,700,000 servings of wholesome, nutritious and delicious food to Denver’s underserved populations through our Donor Partners.
