About Us

The inaugural season of the Flatirons Chamber Music Festival will take place June 9-18, 2017 in Boulder, Colorado. The Festival brings together professional musicians from a variety of prestigious institutions, including The Copenhagen Philharmonic, The Eastman School of Music, The Juilliard School, The New England Conservatory, Rice University, The Royal College of Music, The Royal Danish Academy, and The University of Michigan. Through vibrant collaboration and rich community engagement, FCMF strives to cross cultural, geographic, and temporal divides between performers, composers, and audience members, inspiring dynamic interaction within the entire Festival community.

Throughout its duration, audience members will be invited and encouraged to attend open rehearsals, pre-performance workshops, and a variety of other interactive events. The culmination of the Festival will feature three primary performances in a variety of community-oriented settings. These performances will highlight interactive programs of the highest caliber of chamber music while striving to break down barriers often associated with the concert hall.

Further underscoring the current relevance of classical music, the Festival will feature the World Premiere of a work by its composer-in-residence; connecting classical music with present-day life experience, venue, and occasion.
