Mick Flannery

“Mick Flannery has a voice for the ages, a complete Master of his craft” cited by Clash Magazine, whilst The Sunday Times said he “conjures up exquisite story-telling.” His latest offering 'Goodtime Charlie' Flannery's eighth studio record went straight to No. 1 at home in Ireland on the independent charts, and No. 2 on the Official Charts, Making it his sixth top 5 record to date, with 3 Number 1 records already under his belt. 'Goodtime Charlie' is also the first international signing for John Prine's beloved Oh Boy Records. Speaking of the signing, Fiona Prine, President of Oh Boy said: “Oh Boy Records continues to be the home label for singer-songwriters who are dedicated to their craft. The body of work created by my husband, John Prine, remains our North Star when making decisions about the artists we bring onto our label. Mick Flannery is arguably one of the best songwriters to emerge from Ireland’s long and storied history of writers, poets, and musicians. I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome Mick, as the first international signing, to our Oh Boy Records family. John was proud to be part of the music community on Ireland’s western coast and I know he would be proud of this new partnership with Mick and his team.” Mick Flannery’s songs are fluent in expressing layered aspects of the human condition, its flaws, triumphs, and general uncertainty. His live shows are renowned for his self-deprecating humor, audience engagement, and the ability to bring people on a journey of both heartbreak and joy, often in the same instance. Mick has built up a reputation over the past decade as one of Ireland's hardest working musicians, touring extensively at home and in more recent years abroad as his songs have been reaching folks farther afield. Ireland's best-kept secret appears to be no more. Praise for Goodtime Charlie: '..Powerful Americana' - Rollingstone "Flannery continues to prove himself to be one of our finest singers, songwriters and sonic storytellers" - The Irish Times ‘Powerful life-affirming album’ 9/10 - Hotpress "Flannery has mastered the art of subtle persuasion..That's where true songs are sung" - Boston Globe "Emotionally charged, lyrically rich songs.." 9/10 - Americana UK "A voice and a heart grained by lifetimes beyond his years" - Folk Radio UK

Anna Tivel

About Anna Tivel: Anna Tivel is a Portland, Oregon-based singer/songwriter with a flair for capturing intimate moments and crafting strong, narrative-driven Americana-tinged folk songs. After debuting in 2014, she earned increasing critical acclaim for releases like 2017's Small Believer and 2019's The Question. Tivel's 2021 collection Blue World reimagined some of her earlier songs in a minimalist piano and percussion setting, after which she joined the Mama Bird roster and released 2022's collaborative and deeply organic Outsiders, which featured all-new material. Raised in rural northern Washington, Tivel comes from a musical family and grew up playing the violin. After a move to Portland, she began writing songs and developed an affinity for framing her poetic observations within gentle, often somber folk songs. She released her debut album, Before Machines, in 2014 on Portland-based Fluff & Gravy Records. After taking home honors at both the Telluride Troubadour Contest and the Kerrville Songwriting Contest, Tivel issued two more albums, Heroes Waking Up (2016) and Small Believer (2017), in quick succession, earning widespread praise for her delicate lyricism and intimate style of storytelling. She continued to earn new fans with 2019's nuanced and atmospheric The Question, an album that paired her with engineer Brian Joseph (Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens) and producer/multi-instrumentalist Shane Leonard. For her next project, Tivel collaborated with fellow Portland musicians Galen Clark (piano) and Micah Hummel (drums) to re-record sparse new arrangements of songs from her previous albums. The resulting release, Blue World, appeared in 2021. By this point, Tivel had already written the material for her next album, and she headed to Rock Island, Illinois, to reunite with the team of Joseph and Leonard, working with a small group of trusted musicians. They arranged the songs collaboratively and recorded quickly, emphasizing the spontaneous nature of the music. Outsiders arrived in August 2022 and was Tivel's first release for the Mama Bird label. - James Christopher Monger Praise for Anna Tivel: “Singer-songwriters are often called poets. In truth, only a few deliver the deep insight and sense of the new that breaking through the predictable achieves. Anna Tivel is one.” - NPR, Ann Powers “Everything here is a testament to her storytelling gifts (she’s been likened to Steinbeck and I suspect she may have a novel or short stories collection in her) with her finely drawn characters and observations of an emotional life that ranges from defiance to regret, joy to sadness.” - Folk Radio UK
