Buy TicketsWith a dual identity as a violinist and fiddler, Rosalee Walsh cut her teeth on Bill Monroe and Bach, bluegrass jams and orchestra rehearsals, and a lot of Grateful Dead. She walked the line between these two worlds all the way from her little mountain town of Ridgway, CO to Boulder, pursuing a degree in violin performance. Outside of the practice room, Rosalee became involved in the Boulder folk scene, including fiddling and singing on the eTown stage at the first “Pay-or-Play” events.
In the past four years she has fallen deeply in love with old time fiddling and string quartet but has been equally frustrated by the separation between the two. In her project “Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue,” Rosalee erases the line between classical and traditional. Alongside a crew of stellar Boulder musicians, her eclectic performance features fiddle tunes, ballads and originals arranged to respect and alter tradition. Come out for an evening of old tunes, new songs, borrowed ballads and feelings good and blue!
