Amelia White
No artist comes to etown out of nowhere, but we suspect that the radio show will have the pleasure of introducing you to the fine up and coming singer/songwriter Amelia White. Amelia’s new release “Candy Heart” is being called…”One of those rare albums that’s filled with ebullient choruses and complicated moods, literate verses and ravaged guitars and a level of composition and craftsmanship that brings to mind Lucinda Williams, Tom Petty, and Ryan Adams”…Boston Globe. Washington Post says “White has married Americana craftsmanship with alt–rock invention in a way that one element bolsters the other.”
White has a history, of course…Virginia born, she spent her formative professional years living and working in notable music scenes from Boston to Seattle, soaking up regional folk and rock sensibilities along the way. In 1999, she released her debut, the Tucker Martine-produced outing “Comes and Goes” and followed it up three years later with the notable “Blue Souvenirs,” a record that garnered notice from press and fans alike for its incisiveness and simple beauty.
After years busking in subways, hitting stages across the country and carving out a career, White settled in Nashville and began to synthesize the best of its rich community of country-infused independent rock. She hunkered down in a tiny east Nashville studio with producers Nelson Hubbard and Brian Brown to create “Candy Heart,” her most accomplished record yet.
