Ed Harcourt
Ed Harcourt, the British chef turned full-time musician, was first catapulted into the public eye with the late 2000 UK release of Maplewood (Heavenly Records) – his debut solo six track offering. Comprised of his original 4-track demos it marked the arrival of a talented new force in the world of singer-songwriting, drawing early comparisons with Randy Newman, Tom Waits and Harry Nilsson. Here Be Monsters (Capitol), his first full-length album, was followed by a Mercury Music Prize nomination and widespread national and international acclaim. Harcourt capitalized on the opportunity to showcase his talent during his explosive headlining shows, numerous festival appearances and guest slots with the likes of Sparklehorse, Neil Finn and Beth Orton throughout Europe, Australia and the US. Harcourt is back in 2003 with his second album, From Every Sphere (Heavenly Records), recorded by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Low, American Music Club). Currently on the road with Sondre Lerche, Harcourt is set to join R.E.M.’s tour in the fall of 2003.
