Garrison Starr

Artist's Website

Sharing the stage with Robben is Mississippi-born alt roots-rocker Garrison Starr – a Lucinda Williams for Gen X’ers. Garrison was still in high school when she began performing original material in coffeehouses and clubs around Memphis. After releasing a self-financed EP in 1996, Garrison recorded her 1997 mainstream debut, Eighteen Over Me, self-described as a reflection of the independence and confidence she developed over the course of her years of touring throughout the South. After a brief sabbatical from touring and recording, a move to Los Angeles, and a 2002 follow-up release, Garrison is back with her newest release, Airstreams and Satellites (Vanguard Records, 2004). The New York Daily News describes Garrison’s music as, “forthright beats and uplifting guitar riffs…fired by melodies that make you want to be alone so you can sing them loud without embarrassment.”
