Over the years here at eTown we have had the pleasure of having our good friend Béla Fleck join us on the show 6 times! Each time he seems to come around with a different collaborator or band but each show is an example of why he is revered as one of the best banjo players on the planet. Truly bluegrass at it’s finest!
Join us as we look back on this very special eTown taping from April, 1999, with Béla and his band The Flecktones. If you weren’t already aware, The Flecktones are a super group consisting of master bassist Victor Wooten, Jeff Coffin (Saxophone), and Future Man (Roy Wooten) who plays Drumitar, a novel electronic instrument of his own invention that you truly have to see (and hear) to believe.
Also on stage at this show, to make it a truly ‘religious’ experience, were the Blind Boys of Alabama and as usual the Blind Boys had the audience jumpin’ up and down and singin’ along to their gospel.
As Waldo Otto of Red Knuckles & The Trailblazers puts it, the 90s are really just the 60s upside down. Sit back, relax and take a trip back with us!
