Since eTown’s inception all the way back in 1991, we have been lucky to have some amazing musicians grace the eTown stage. More often than not when we are digging into the eTown archive we come across a show that is just too good or too unique to not share with our newer eTown listeners. This show is one of those shows!
Way back in February of 1993 we had the pleasure of welcoming Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir, Rob Wasserman, Rickie Lee Jones & Leo Kottke to the eTown stage. All of these musicians are legendary in their own right and it was a truly intimate evening of music and conversation.
Bob Weir was also the recipient of the night’s eChievement Award. Throughout his career, and especially in the late 80s and early 90s, Weir has promoted the conservation and preservation of the Old Growth Forests in Montana and the Northwest and has also worked to educate people about the importance of protecting the rainforest around the world. On top of that, he is the creator and primary funder of The Further Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting the environment, education and the poor and homeless. During the show he sits down with our host Nick Forster for a candid conversation about how Weir is able to find time in his busy touring schedule to be so involved in the community.
Sit back and enjoy this gem from the eTown archives and if you feel inclined leave a comment below to tell us what you thought about the show!
